Cold Weather Notice

With the upcoming winter weather, CPWSD #2 is urging all customers to conduct some preventative maintenance to possibly eliminate a frozen water service. The following items may prevent you from having issues during these cold temperatures and save you from having a service fee added to your water bill.

  1. Make sure your meter ring and lid are properly sealed to prevent cold air from blowing into the meter pit.
  2. It also may be a good idea to insulate the meter service by covering it with bales of straw or by insulating the inside of the pit and meter with an old blanket, sleeping bag, foam insulation or garbage bag filled with dry leaves or straw.
  3. If you live in a manufactured home, it may be beneficial to make sure your piping is properly insulated and if necessary, heat tape installed and plugged in.
  4. Homes with skirting or unheated crawl spaces may need to be sealed and possibly heated.
  5. Please note, if District personnel are called to your residence for a service call and it is determined the frozen piping to be on the customer’s side, additional fee(s) will be charged to your water bill.

If you need further assistance or are elderly and unable to check your meter service, please notify the Water District at 573-581-8230.
